I am so glad you came to my page, I am eager to tell and share my stories and there are Many to tell but lets start off with an introduction! My name is Pete and I have been collecting trading cards since 3rd Grade (1976), in the early 1980's while in Middle School through hard work, hours of tracking down classmates collections, going to card shows, following up rumors collections that were too good to be true, and putting miles upon miles on my bicycle I assembled what I thought was the greatest collection in my small world of the Connecticut shoreline. That was up to 1984 when I slowed down and collected sporadically till 1987 then life's responsibilities put my collecting on hold till the 2000. I would every once in a while by a pack or ten, or a few times purchased all the left over and now price reduced rack packs off the shelf at Toy's R Us. Yes believe it or not they actually did not sell out of cards they had in stock and would put them on Clearance at 50% or more off. I would clean those shelves off with my great JUNK WAX GOLD! Which I still have a tote of unopened rack packs. (See Pictures Below)
I resumed my collecting after building my company in the early 2000's and at that time prices to me seemed to be bargain basement for the all-time greats and I went a little nuts buying raw and mid grade cards which at the time it seemed to me all anyone wanted was a grade 7 or above. I could care less about all that because I wasn't selling my cards. I was a collector!
in my 1960's section there are pictured a group of PSA 5 cards, I think I paid about $100.00 for the whole lot and I took them to a show and one dealer said break those out of the holders and sell them raw you will get more for them. That encounter and the way sales were for cards back then soured my opinion on graded cards.
